Preservation
One of the greatest achievements of the Trust has been the reintroduction of wildlife and the protection and preservation thereof. The rare Roan and Sable antelope, the Cape hunting dog and the hartebeest can be seen at Malilangwe. One of the highest concentrations of black and white rhino on the African continent is found at  Malilangwe.

The Estate is an area of extraordinary diverse and unique ecosystems including 38 Biospheres and habitat communities. Malilangwe is rich with Africa’s impressive ‘Big 5’, namely the Cape buffalo, lion, elephant, rhino, and leopard. Nowhere else in Africa can one also experience the beauty of the smaller antelope species – being Sharpe’s gysbok, klipspringer, grey duiker, steenbok and oribi. The Estate boasts more than 500 species of birds, and arguably the largest population diversity of raptors in the world. This encompasses the ‘Magnificent 7’ as well as 11 hawk and 9 owl species.

The Trust aspires not only to protecting wildlife on Malilangwe but also plays a significant role in preserving surrounding wilderness areas.
