Ecological Research
Over the past 14 years Malilangwe has invested in a research program aimed at understanding the functioning of the ecosystem. The purpose of this has been to minimise our human ‘footprint’ and to ensure that informed and responsible decisions are made regarding the natural resources we have the privilege of protecting and presenting to others who care to see ‘the real’ Africa.

The diligence of the Scouts and Research team monitoring the wildlife have enabled them to record annual animal movements and distribution around the property. This allows for scrupulous planning and monitoring of the watering holes, pans, vegetation pressure. The research also enables effective forethought for bush clearing, road development – illustrating how essential this department is to maintaining Malilangwe’s unspoilt wilderness.
