Conservation Initiatives
Additional conservation initiatives undertaken by Malilangwe within the Chiredzi District:

The re-introduction, since 1994, of some 2 200 endangered and other species
Ongoing and world renowned ecological research
Securing a US$ 8 million 5-year grant for the Frankfurt Zoological Society’s partnership project with Zimbabwe’s Parks a& Wildlife Management Authority (PAWMA) to rehabilitate the Gonarezhou National Park
The donation of 20 white rhino to the Save Valley Community Trust and 5 white rhino to the Bubye Valley Conservancy
Malilangwe sits on Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area Steering Committee (GLTFP) and the Transfrontier Conservation Area Veterinary Sub-committee
Hosting the International Dangerous Drugs Course – the top wildlife veterinary course in the world – for the past 9 years
Donation of helicopter air time for game census and anti- poaching initiatives in surrounding areas
Emergency funding and volunteer work to fight the Lowveld’s 2004 anthrax outbreak
Provision of 20 000 capsules of rabies vaccines
Assistance with Problem Animal Control (PAC) within the Chiredzi District in partnership with PAWMA
